Projection mapping is a technology to project images on the surface of something which is not considered as “a screen” usually.

The most popular usage so far has been to project entertaining movies onto the wall or the surface of some wide buildings just for fun.

But now the latest development of technology has made it possible for projection mapping to do more practical work in the other fields, for example, on construction sites and in hospitals.

First, let us visit a major highway tunnel project in the Tohoku region. Nowadays they can confirm the assay of strength and weaknesse of rock to be exploded by seeing the data shown on the rock surface by projection mapping.

Secondly, in the operating room, surgeons today can see the visible data projected directly onto the affected organs to be treated next moment. Thus they do not need to turn their eyes onto the other places for the data.
