Ridding the World of Landmines - Japan’s Contribution

Antipersonnel landmines remain in the ground long after wars and conflicts have ended, continuing to maim and kill people indiscriminately. In 1995, working closely with the Cambodia Mine Action Centre, a Japanese construction machinery company began modifying its excavators and other heavy machines for use in demining. Another company tackled the problem of demining in areas inaccessible by heavy machines. Their remotely operated equipment uses compressed air to uncover landmines for rapid, safe removal. Such innovative Japanese technological contributions are helping realize a landmine-free world.

日本の対人地雷除去

戦争後も地中に残り続け、無差別に人を傷つける対人地雷。日本の建設機械を扱う会社は、1995年から対人地雷除去機の開発に着手。カンボジアの地雷対策センターと協力しながら、重機を改造した対人地雷除去機を製造している。また重機が入れないような場所でも日本の技術が活躍。圧縮空気を吹き付ける技術により、安全かつ迅速に地雷を発見、除去できるようになった。地雷のない世界を実現するために活躍する日本の技術を紹介する。

為世界和平儘一份力——日本的排雷技術

反步兵地雷是一種在戰爭結束後仍會殘留在土地中隨機危害人身安全的地雷。一家日本的建築機械公司從1995年起就開始從事反步兵地雷排雷設備的研發，他們與柬埔寨排雷行動中心合作，致力於將重機改造成排雷設備。在重機無法進入的地點，日本的技術也在發揮作用，利用壓縮空氣技術能夠安全且迅速地發現並清除地雷。本期介紹日本技術是如何在排雷領域大展身手的。
