　日本の中部にある名古屋市。その一角、有松には400年以上受け継がれている伝統工芸・「有松絞り」がある。絞りとは、布の一部を縛るなど、染料がしみこまないようにすることで模様を作る技法。有松には100種類以上の技法があり、その多くは女性達によって受け継がれてきた。斬新な発想でこの絞りに新たな魅力を加えている若手職人たちに受け継がれている「有松絞り」を紹介する。

　在日本中部的名古屋市內有一個叫“有松”的地區。這裡有傳承了超過400年的傳統工藝“有松絞染”。絞染就是把布的一部份紮起, 故意做出染料不滲透的部分, 用以製作出獨特紋樣的染布方法。“有松絞染”有兩個特點; 其一紮綁布料的紮法有100多種, 其二大多數工藝是由婦女們傳承下來的。

　本集为大家介绍以崭新的创意，在绞染中增添了新的魅力而获得人们好评的年轻工匠们所继承的“有松绞染”。

Located on the outskirts of Nagoya, a major city in central Japan, Arimatsu is a town that’s home to a famous craft tradition “Arimatsu Shibori”. It is a kind of tie-dyeing with a history of more than 400 years.

Tie-dyeing is a method where parts of the fabric are tied, folded, or wrapped before dyeing in order to create various artistic patterns. Then, what is special to “Arimatsu Shibori” is that they enjoy using more than 100 kind of processing techniques and that the craft has been mainly handed down among the women.

Nowadays we find a new generation of young dyers, male and female, who are taking “Arimatsu Shibori” in fresh directions.
